Discipleship — growing as a follower of Jesus Christ — is nurtured in Anglican parishes through a combination of corporate worship, sacramental milestones, and ongoing teaching. For children baptised as infants, godparents and the congregation take on responsibility for their Christian upbringing until they are old enough to affirm their own faith, typically at Confirmation.
Confirmation is usually preceded by a period of preparation or catechesis, in which candidates — whether children, teenagers, or adults — are taught the basics of Christian belief and Anglican practice before being confirmed by a bishop.
